Whatever You Do, Do The Right Thing For the Other Person

Putting together a deal, giving your option or helping someone. Guard your reputation by doing what's right in all things. Real estate professionals have extensive knowledge of information and experience compared to the average person or property owner.

Let property owners decide how much to donate. Its up to them. Whatever they feel is right.

Become the local #1 pet-friendly realtor professional in your area by doing a few of these things.

Bring a PET "Pet Planning" poster to local veterinarian offices. It has space on the bottom for you to put your business information. Vet offices love this poster, it reminds people to make a plan for their pets. These posters are popular; public bulletin boards will host them and leave them up.

Give all of your clients that have pets a copy of the pet planning guide. Its a free form on the PET website as well and any pet owner can use them. Attach a business card; it could be you get called to help sell an estate property.

Visit real estate attorneys in your area and give them a copy of the pet planning form that they can incorporate into estate planning. Now they know a pet-friendly realtor for their clients.

Partner with title and investment companies to fundraise for PET. They could donate or fundraise in may ways. They get a tax receipt for the donation from the PET and recognition awards also.

Attend a pet themed event with PET and your business information. Promote the PET and your supporting business. Ask your other PET partnering companies to join you. As a PET non-profit, space is usually free.

The PET wants to share donations received with your local supporting animal welfare groups. By working with the PET you can also support all groups in your area.

Promote on all your marketing; your status as the areas #1 pet-friendly real estate business, agent or professional and/or affiliation with the PET.

Repost and publicize your receiving a PET Hero Award. Make a big deal about it to your own network. Get other business associations you belong to, to repost your award achievement as well.

The PET directors and anyone associated are not a tax professionals. Please check with your own certified public accountant or tax persons for appropriate deduction and IRS filing.

Ideas to Grow Your Pet-Friendly Network

Doing Good, Pays Good

Maximize Your Earning By Giving

Ok lets put the obvious first. You can donate from sales you make or a percentage of earned commissions. You decide how much.

You can help your office to donate as a team, letting the whole agency benefit from animal welfare recognition and public publicity.

FSBO property owners make great candidates to help. They can donate to the PET for your help and you both get a benefit. Plus if they need professional help in other things, you already have a relationship.

The more you help others, the more your profile grows with pet owners in your area. This in turn brings in more clients asking for you.

Deducting Out-of-Pocket Expenses

Although a charitable deduction is not allowed for a contribution of services, unreimbursed out-of-pocket expenditures made in connection with rendering gratuitous services to a charitable organization may be deductible (Regs. Sec. 1.170A-1(g)). The expenses are treated as direct payments to the charity rather than for the organization’s use (Rev. Rul. 84-61), so they are subject to the 50% of AGI limitation (30% if made to other than a 50% charity). The expenses must be nonpersonal, directly connected with, and solely attributable to the rendition of such services (Rev. Rul. 69-473). Thus, expenditures incurred in connection with a charitable purpose but that primarily benefit the taxpayer are not deductible as charitable contributions (Saltzman, 54 T.C. 722 (1970)).
